    consistently getting soft shelled eggs

Well... my girls have it made. Plenty of sun/vitamin d. Free choice oyster shell and crushed egg shells. Organic layer feed. Outside free ranging each day. Not too many treats so it doesn't mess with their nutrition. All 11 were happy, no fighting, etc. Bird in question was super friendly. She...

    consistently getting soft shelled eggs

Ceceuu: I'm still getting at least 2 a week. All mine are red sex links and I get usually 9-10 per day from 11 hens. Yesterday was the first time there were 11 in the box and one was soft shell again so I'm convinced it's from her and she just has calcium issues and isn't going to change. Or if...

    consistently getting soft shelled eggs

the first egg on the 11th looked like this: the last 2-3 looked like this: I just cut into the one from the 22nd, inside looks fine, outside is 'paper thin': today's egg I really didn't study so I don't know what it was cuz I wanted it out of there before they got any ideas to...

    consistently getting soft shelled eggs

So... I got 6 pullets on 3/10 to add to my existing flock of 5. Some were laying, some just starting. All 11 are red sex links from the same farm and were born Aug/Sept 2014. On the 11th, 22nd and 24th I got a soft shelled egg. I got at least 1 if not 2 between the 11th and 22nd, I can't...

5 gallon bucket feeder -- food mess on the ground?!

So I made the horizontal bucket waterer (love it!) and the pvc feeder to hopefully make my life easier... but the birds are getting feed on the ground. I thought this was a 'no mess' feeder?? I followed the instructions exactly. Is it perhaps the height of the bucket? One bird is much messier...

I do plan on raising up the coop 24"! As you said, I think higher than 30" is too close to face level as well :) :) :)
