Hi everyone - another update for you. She is now much bigger, is standing and is taking a few steps. We put her outside, when the weather's OK, and she grazes on the weeds. When I stand nearby she walks to me and usually makes it. The problem now is - when she falls over, or trips, or the chick...
Hi - just an update of sorts. I gave her the medicine for 10 days and no difference. Took her back on Wednesday for more medicine so, another 10 days' worth. I mentioned niacin to the vet but she said there's niacin in the meds I'm already giving her. She also said that, as she's been like this...
Well the weather was better on Thursday so we drove to town and took her to see our lovely Bulgarian vet. He gave her selenium, calcium and some antibiotic - injected into her mouth. Told us to do the same for 3 days then put the mixture into her drinking water - said it wouldn't bother the...
Hi - no improvement so far. Tried to make her swim in the sink but she was just walking on the floor of it so at leasts she is growing. Still loving the egg. We've changed her from chick feed to chick crumb now as there's grit in that and, I daresay, more vitamins. Loves it. She's on her side...
Hi summerchick. I'm just not sure. She eats well - especially boiled eggs - drinks water and poops fine and seems alert but the falling over, I don't think, has improved. She seems to be able to stand for longer periods though she's wobbly. I've not got straw in the bottom of the cage flattened...
I love you people! Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to help me. The tea towel rolled up to prop her up is working a treat. She has been sat up on it preening herself and not falling over. I'm sure it's helping her confidence. She has stood up today for ages. Where did you get...
Ooh that's cheered me up a bit tillyita - glad to hear yours did so well. Baby's doing well as far as eating, drinking and pooping, though if I go to bed and she falls over when I'm not there I guess she's on her back all night and not eating. Just given her some physio - put her on the kitchen...
Yes chick powder - and some boiled eggs just now which she's tucking into. Put it in a ramekin so she doesn't have to bend over so far and fall over. I'm stuck at home at the moment (snowing heavily in Bulgaria) so can't get to the vets for a while - don't suppose anyone has any storecupboard...
Gander 007 - boiled some eggs for her and put them in a ramekin so it's higher than the little plate the food was on and she's tucking into it like mad - and standing up. Can't get any vitamins yet because of the snow but will get to the vet's as soon as it eases up. Thanks again and I'll update...
Hi. I joined this site yesterday and posted this lot on new members. Someone suggested I post it here as well so I hope I'm not being a nuisance! I wrote this lot yesterday:
Hi I've just joined this site and wondered if anyone could help. One of our geese hatched a gosling about 3 days ago (we...
Hi thanks for all your replies and advice. We're in Bulgaria and it's snowing too heavily to get to town to the vet's or a chemist but I'll certainly try the egg. I hate calling it an it so I'll call her a she. She's no better today. I put her in a sink of warm water last night to see how she...
Oops got a bit excited and pressed send...........new to all this. Thanks for the glass suggestion and I'll try and post it in emergencies when I've worked out how to do that. Many thanks xxx
Hi I've just joined this site and wondered if anyone could help. One of our geese hatched a gosling about 3 days ago (we think) and had another egg which she stayed on (which we've now found dead). My husband found the first gosling outside of the nest and wet (she'd made a nest inside a shed...
