    Fence netting

Hi, I’m looking for a netting or inclosure or pen than can easily be installed and taken down. I don’t need it to be electrified or dog/predator proof. Just something that keeps the chickens in. Kind of like the Premier1 noshock hen pen; https://www.premier1supplies.com/p/noshock-hen-day-pen...

    Different breeds

Hi, I’m planning on getting new hens very soon. I might go with 1x white leghorns, 2x Isa Brown and 2x Plymouth Rock. I’ve had Plymouth rocks in the past and they are very good layers. I enjoyed them very much. I was wondering why some people steer away from hybrid chickens like the ISA brown...

Hi Everyone, What type of heated waterer do you use? I need one that will keep water from freezing in extreme cold (-20 to -30). I will put it in the run. There’s a lot of threads on this but I wanna to see if any Canadians have a preference on what to get. I have electricity in the coop and I’m...

Hi everyone, I’m thinking about covering my run with plastic (vapour barrier). I want to prevent snow from getting in the run and it will also protect the birds from the freezing winds when it’s -30 Celsius Has anyone done this? Obviously I would make openings for ventilation and peep holes. I...

I already started supplementing with light. Goes on at 6am in the coop and turns off at 8 pm. Did you add a heat source in the coop? My coop is insulated but as you know Canadian winters are very long and cold.

Hi everyone, I’m from Laval, Quebec. My pullets haven’t started laying yet they will be 20 weeks old in a few days. I have buff Orpingtons and Plymouth rocks. The days are getting shorter and colder so I’m worried I won’t be getting eggs anytime soon.
