I've been to Salt Lake before, and Utah is a beautiful state, very scenic. It's funny you should mention Canadian geese because I have 5 that I raised from babies. They've stuck together a in their own little group for 4 years, one female and 4 males.
This year 2 Canadian geese have paired...
Yes, it certainly is a welcome site when a wild bird stops by for a week or two, but even better when they decide this is npw home.
One year a 3ft alligator showed up, but showed no interest in my geese. I caught and relocated the gator because eventually goose would have been on the menu...
Yes, it's part of the family for over 3 months now. I've had ducks and coots before that would stay for 1 to 2 weeks then fly off never to be seen again, but this goose has grown accustomed to the free feeding each day. I hope it stays, and may be find a permanent bound with one of my toulouse...
At first I thoughtcit was a goose, after a week on the web, I could not find any duck with its coloration. Once I begin looking for geese the size of a 5 pound duck, it began to resemble the white fronted goose more than the bean goose or greylag. It does have a slight white ring around its...
You never know what's going to fly in and how long they are going to stay. I'm sure it was a welcome addition to your flock, and enjoyable to see their interaction with your birds.
It's a very quiet goose and submissive; my guess is female. It's skidish and only now shows up with the rest of the domestic geese at feeding time, but keeps its distance at about 50 feet. Not tame at all.
A greater white fronted goose has adopted my 3 toulouse as its family. It's been 3 months now and it goes where ever the toulouse geese go. I live in north Florida and this goose habitat is in Alaska. Very strange for it to have wanderd this far south.
It has the same coloration as the...
Ks, I judt let all the babies out with the free range, all the mothers attacked them repeatedly. Even the free range babies attacked them. I was able to trick them back into the pen, where they will stay until they are much bigger.
I think the broken neck was a freak accident. The mother that...
I have 4 pea hens, and all hatched out babies. The mother of two of the other hens I penned up to grow the chicks faster with flock feed because she hatched hers 2 weeks after the others hatched. They are all free range, but prefer to stay in the 100 by 50 foot fenced in corral with 4 pens...
Enjoyed reading your story about your free range peahen and chicks. An update on My pea hen - after placing her in the pen with her last surviving chick, they spent 3 months in the pen on high protein game bird crumbles. The chick is 1/3 the size of momma and looks like a peacock chick. I...

Awesome pictures; the reason I got rid of my black shouldered peacock was that he wouldn't let the older peacock mate; he'd always interrupt the process, but the final straw was his vicious nature toward the chickens. He was out to kill them and their young, it was his mission to seek and...
