I’ve never made my chickens a dust bath in a container, they have always done it outside on the ground. I have seen people use containers and fill it with dry fine grained soil mixed with sand. The soil to use would be dry fine grained soil though.
I’ve had a hen loose feathers back towards the tail just like your hens. I do have a rooster which could have caused the missing feathers. In my situation the feathers grew back after some time.

I currently have an Ador Store Automatic Chicken Coop door. I’ve used it for nearly 3 years now. The only few issues I’ve had with my automatic door in the winter is if there is frozen mud or chicken poop in the bottom of the door frame which prevented the door from closing all the way. I fix...

What kind of dewormer do any of you guys use?. And do you know if the following drugs would be affective at killing gape worms, tape worms, or any other worms? Here are the drug names I am questioning… Moxidectin, Praziquantel, Fenbendazole.
When I was dealing with wry neck I gave my chicken a single 400 IU Vitamin E gel capsule a day. I would start by poking a hole in the capsule and sucking out the Vitamin E gel with a syringe. Once I got the vitamin E in the syringe I would then grab the chicken and set it in my lap and proceed...
I collect my eggs daily and refrigerate them. If I am selling eggs I first candle the eggs with a flashlight to check for cracks on the shell. The next thing I do is if there is a little poop on the eggs I will try to wipe it off with a dry cloth rag. If the poop is still not coming off I will...
