Rosie, would walk off from the flock and make different clucking sounds than she did before. Actually, she got very vocal....and would follow me around. One day I put my hand down and it happened......the squat that I was told about...you cannot miss it....It seems like it was about 3 days...
This is a picture of our 1st egg. One of our RIR, Rosie, laid it on 7/21/13. We noticed her behavior was a little different and also, the "squat" is an unmistakable sign of a pullet becoming a hen....... Thank you, Rosie! I can hardly wait until the rest of our small flock begin laying, also...
We have a flock of 10 hens, 1 of which is a BO. She is my favorite. So sweet and comes when you call her name; Biskit! I have watched the video you mentioned, probably 20 plus times and show it to anyone that will watch it with me. I laugh out loud while watching it!
Hello Dredre66,
I am very new to having backyard chickens. We adopted our mix-match flock from a feed store here in Jacksonville, FL back in March of this year. I had no idea how much fun and entertaining it is to have chickens.
Our girls are scared of rain. It is so funny when the rain begins. The very second they feel the first raindrop, they run as fast as they can to their coop. The funniest part of it is how they run. It makes me laugh-out-loud everytime!
