well it states right on the bag that its food grade, I've been using it and i dont see any issue with my ladies. Also lists on the back of the bag which animals it can be used with and the percentages...and specifically lists poultry.
DE is harmless and i do not know if it gets "in" the eggs. i eat mine, and im pretty sure everyone who uses DE with their hens eats theirs, its not a chemical.
My hens all perch in one spot together as well, but they don't always "perch", sometimes they sleep on the floor of the coop.
You...
I get mine from TSC $13 for a 20lb bag, not bad

when you say you are using the dust do you mean Sevin or Diatomaceous earth? I sprinkle a thin layer of DE on the bottom of the coup, then lay the wood shavings over it and kinda move it all around with my hands so its somewhat evenly distributed. I've also added the DE to their food which many...
Despite your loss, i really appreciate the uncensored, bluntness of your pictures. pretty awesome.
I think we need to retrace our steps here.
Were there any fibers, hairs, footprints, tracks or paw prints found at the scene? Did you run dna tests on all the blood samples found at the scene to...
Recently I have become a food spotter for my SS and GLW and they seem to quite enjoy this little game while free ranging. I run my hands through the grass stirring up what insects might be hiding, grasshoppers, crickets, worms, etc and my ladies follow my hand and peck at whatever i stir up. All...
She was just posing for the camera. But yes, she loves treats. And they both follow me around the yard while i point out grasshoppers to them, they seem to love this little game. All i have to do is point my finger at a grasshopper or cricket and she knows exactly what I'm doing.
I got a golden laced wyondotte and a speckled sussex fom the NC Tri County Coon Club in Cherryville, NC. Sounds odd and random but they have a really great setup. They have about 20 different breeds, including EE' and french coppers. Ours have turned out to be great layers and friendly.
i absolutely love the coloring and pattern on my GLW. started laying at 24 weeks about two weeks ago. She has become much more friendly as she matures.
My GLW is def the head honcho over my SS and EE. She enjoys jumping a-top the coop then dive bombing the SS to try to intimidate her, kinda funny to watch and usually doesn't work all that well. I've noticed that she doesn't mess with the EE who is much younger and smaller than my GLW and SS. I...
I've noticed that mine will go back up for a little while during the morning, maybe for an early morning nap? but tend to stay out most of the day, even during heavy downpours or thunder and lighting, they dont seem to be frightened of it. Usually the only other times they go up is mid-day to...
