Fox killed all my chickens (but one)

Hello It would appear that a fox has come in the morning and taken all but one of my chickens. I have had my chickens for two and a half years without any problems before now. I had four hybrids, a silkie bantam and two sea brights. Only the very smallest and fastest sea bright has escaped...

Chicken lethargic and off food, unknown cause.

I think I have solved the problem, WORMS. She has just done a poop on the shed floor and it has thin white worms in it as well as some red lumps (blood I assume). I have some flubenvet so will add to the feed only problem is getting her to take it. I'm really annoyed as we bought them as wormed...

Chicken lethargic and off food, unknown cause.

Also I have checked her crop and its empty, but not foul smelling. No sign of infection but now won't touch any food. Any ideas would be great as I'm really at a loss.

Chicken lethargic and off food, unknown cause.

Hello We have a new (just into lay) chicken that has suddenly become unwell. Up until a week ago she was in perfect health but has slowly become very lethargic and off her food. Apart from a few loose poos she seems well in that she has no runny nose, a bright comb, etc. Although she may be...

Very ill chicken advice needed please

My one year old speckled chicken is very ill. A while back she had a bit of a moult went off lay and wasn't herself but did pick up (although still off lay). She and her sisters were wormed when the clocks went forward and there is no sign of any mites or lice on her. Past few days she has been...

Unwell chicken - At a loss for cause - Urgent help please

Doris is better today! I think she has also come back into lay, so maybe just an off day after her moult? I'm sure the garlic, yoghurt, etc helped though. Good to see her scratching about and eating again.

Unwell chicken - At a loss for cause - Urgent help please

She has breast meat. In fact she feels in pretty good condition despite being unwell. It all came on all of a sudden, yesterday running about with the flock for scraps of corn, today as flat as a pancake and won't even pick up the corn in front of her face.

Unwell chicken - At a loss for cause - Urgent help please

Many thanks for your reply. She has been a very regular layer up until her moult started. I will try some yoghurt and egg yolks tomorrow as well as some cat food, I can keep her in the run tomorrow with the food and water whilst the others free range, that way she can help herself as she wants...

Unwell chicken - At a loss for cause - Urgent help please

Hello I have a year old speckledy who went into moult a week or so ago, during the past week she hasn't laid, which I took to be normal. Today she is lethargic and off her food, she is doing runny clear poo with white in it and her wattle is sagging (although good colour). Also her abdomen feels...

Static run - What flooring to use?

Hello all, After a little more advice please. Due to having a large garden, but with no lawn I have to have a static run and coop set up. I have three chickens and the run area is 1 metre by 3 meters (inc space under the coop). However the are allowed out and about in the garden whilst i'm...

Feed & Water placement - What do you do, and why?

I'm trying to decide where to keep my feeder and water in a coop with attached run set up. Its about 85cm by 270cm and designed for 4 birds. As seen here but with an extended run http://www.feelgooduk.net/10-egg-ark-4-all-in-one-chicken-coop-run-set.html I was planning on keeping the feeder...

How far will chickens jump down?

I think some bird netting on the opposite side might be the way to go. I think I will just plug the big gaps and hope my garden is a much better place to be than the yard next door! Thanks for all the advice. Any other suggestions please let me know. Kind regards Jon

How far will chickens jump down?

Quote: Are they likely to? Its a large concrete yard next door. I guessed they could glide down there but hoped they wouldn't as they won't be able to return. Its going to be a real pain to have to put wire along the whole hedge, besides it would look horrid. However I do want them to be...

How far will chickens jump down?

I have a good size garden that I plan to let my chickens free range in when I am there, the rest of the time they have a run. The garden has reasonable walls/fences on three sides but on the forth it has a tatty hedge on top of a retaining wall (the top of the wall being level with my garden)...
