I've read this as well. stating that it helps with internal parasites ,and I believe helping their immune systems. hopefully a more knowledgeable person will reply better :-)

    canadians , please step in!

I'm out in nova scotia. just a hobby guy with about 100 meat birds a year. I want to build a barrel plucker. checked the price of fingers locally..$3.50tx each. so yes I went on to google, found some in the usa. 200 fingers for $69. then I checked the shipping...with fingers it totalled $189 +...

    Horizontal plucker rpm?

no where near an electrician......but a 220 motor to run that slow......might be tough! I'm sure someone will have a suggestion on here tho. I'm totally out of ideas from that unless you install an electric stove , and use the 110 plug that is on them.....sorry , but that's all I have for...

    Horizontal plucker rpm?

if you want a 12 volt one , I'd use the electric fan motor out of either the blower in the cab, or preferably the one behind the radiator.if a 110 volt one is desired, I agree with popsickle, drill motor.

    Horizontal plucker rpm?

I thought I had looked up around $4 each to get them here to me....might have to check into that again! $0.50 would certainly be fine, I'd reconsider doing a tub for that price! use a variable speed drill. the old ones have a knob on the trigger you can turn to hold the adjustment where you...

    clip wings?

appreciate the advice. I'm planning to get meat turkeys , and not heritage birds anyhow. so I'm hoping that the roosting high is bred out of them.

    clip wings?

I've done meat chickens for years. but this year I'd like to try some turkeys. so I've cleared off an alder patch , and started a coop. so I'm reading about how these birds like to roost high. can I avoid them flying by clipping their wing feathers?any ill affects from this?such as smaller...

Question: slicing throat vs. cutting head off when processing

duct tape is a great idea. the largest bleach container I've ever seen here is 5 litre;and they don't even sell those now.and I work at a supermarket. lucky for you! do you skin the head to save the hackles?or just as close as you can get? then just salt/dry the capes?

Question: slicing throat vs. cutting head off when processing

I also tie flies. I was thinking that if I started to use the cone, I could save the important neck feathers, and still get the blood out of the bird......
