Rooster being very aggressive towards hens

I have a rooster who has been abusing one of my hens. Up until today he was just plucking feathers off her head. Today I found her with 2 bloody gashes on her neck with skin missing. She is now in the infirmary. Would you keep this rooster?

I was a member some time ago when I lived in Danville, NH. Now in Brookline, NH, I am still raising chickens. right now I have 9 chickens; 8 hens and 1 rooster. Safe heat source and Brooder set up?

Best and safest heat source for baby chicks, the “Eco Glow” from Brinsea. There are also less expensive knock-offs - check Amazon. With the Eco Glow no heat lamp is necessary. The chicks will use it at night and during the day they will come and go as they need the warmth.

    Cochin Thread!!!

The first photo is one of the three Silver laced "pullets" I ordered last June. Don't think "she" is going to be laying any eggs in the near future, or ever for that matter. The other 2 pullets are seen in photo #2 (with the cockerel ) and photo #3. These are my first Cochins and I have only...

    Cochin Thread!!!

This is a photo of two of my 3 mo old LF silver laced cochins. I am new to this breed. I suspect that the one in front might be a rooster, although I ordered only pullets. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Cochin Thread!!!

Hi These are my first Cochins. They are Silver Laced, 5-6 weeks old. Can anyone offer a guess as to the sex? The first and last are photos of two chicks that look almost exactly alike. The middle one is a photo of the largest chick and she(?) is mostly black. Thanks.

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

I am new to Orpingtons. I picked these two beauties up at our local Agway. They are so friendly and smart. Had them outside for the first time today. They are also fearless. Love them!
