3/4... first time I got three in a day. My ameraucana lays the largest eggs I have ever seen and doesn't make a peep while doing it.
With 4 chickens my goal was a dozen eggs a week but I was figuring spring at the earliest... they're laying about 2 a day right now and the fourth is too young...
1/4 yesterday and 2/4 today. Another green one (I said blue originally but its definitely green) from my ameraucana... nice to find an egg a day at least...
Gave away eggs for the first time yesterday as we really only eat eggs on weekends unless I'm cooking something that needs eggs..
Mine started out sleeping on the floor and sleeping in the nest boxes.. after two days I opened it up at night and physically moved them to the roost. Now they all sleep on the same roost and I nailed all but on nest box shut...
No problems since that... took about three days of training
1/4 for the third straight day... two are too old to be laying in the winter and the other one is too young.
All in all im happy... they get to free range all day which I didn't think I'd do. Cleaning go is pretty easy, I just sweep the manure into the yard. Dual purpose hens!
Plus they've...
1/4... first time I've had back to back days w an egg... clearly my pullet now hen started laying. Woohoo! Another month and the second one should be starting.
1/4 after a week of nothing... I think it might have been one of the pullets... smaller than the other ones I'd been getting and she's very red.
she was also crowing like a rooster for no reason... 10 minutes of it standing on the ladder...
I think she was freaking out w her first..
Don't know why but this is my all time favorite thread on BYC... when I read the first post my mind immediately went to "stew" or "kick him (gently)".
The idea of locking him up to watch you with his hens? Fugging hilarious!!
0/4... only have one active layer and she's laying once every two days. Still have an egg in the fridge so um good for now...
Had store bought eggs this AM and I gotta tell you, they're nasty looking even though they're free range organic.. pale yellow yolks.. I'm getting used to bright...
