Thanks so much !!! I love "doing up" pictures, logos, banners and graphics, etc. ! It's a hobby of mine as well. I also do alot of photography (for myself and others)
btw - if anyone's ever interested, I do custom logos, graphics, banners, email buttons, etc.
I also do web design And I have...
I am looking to get one for my daughter for Christmas if I can convince my DH of the idea and can find one for the right price. My daughter is 4 and completely horse crazy! She helps me care for the chickens (has her own coop), the goats, and the dogs so I know she would do great with a horse...
As for age of the other hens - they know that they are approx 2 years old. The way they know is because their son was only 1 year old when they got these chickens as peeps. Now he's 3.
The guy said he doesn't remember them laying eggs ever since last winter. The lady wasn't so sure - she thought...
Ok ... Here's pictures of the one I brought home ...
What do you think ? I'm new to chickens, so any help would be appreciated. What breed do you think she is ? What's with her legs ? Does she look approx 5 months or so old ?
I posted in another post about some chickens that I was offered for FREE. Well, I just got home from going to see them.
I didn't get them all. Here's why ... I talked to the people and they said they hens haven't laid eggs for MONTHS ... ?? So what's up with that ? There was one hen who's...
So sorry for your loss ! imo it was something really strong, because if a bear couldn't get UNDER your fence, and these goats are big goats, how could something pull THEM both under the fence ? Sounds to me like something strong took them over top the fence. I would say a big cat to, cause you'd...
I received an email from "Mary" (the lady who I'm in contact with concerning the chickens) and this is what she said about the health issue :
Totally Understand about the health question. growing up we raised chickens 32,000 at a time and I know that one little disease can kill the whole flock...
Ok, I have an update ...
I talked with Hubby, and we're able to fence off a "quaranteen coop" for them. We had spoke about it previously, and now this is simply speeding things up.
So I DO have a place to quaranteen them away from my current flock.
The lady who is offering them to me isn't the...
If you dont plan to quarantine them, you are really asking for trouble. Please quarantine! I wouldn't let them roam during that time, either, because if they have something, they will spread it everywhere. If someone offered me a 100 bird flock, free, I wouldn't take it because of the risk. They...
I'll take the opposing view. Why introduce strange birds to your flock if they aren't laying? There have been plenty of horror stories about new birds infecting a whole flock on BYC not to mention the chaos it may cause in pecking order. Your chickens may not take to the new birds or vice...
Ok, well I'm going for it I told the girl yes, I'll take them. I might be picking them up tomorrow.
When I do bring them home ... I will have to figure out how to keep them seperate. My other chickens are penned up in a chicken coop - they're NOT free range (I let them out sometimes, but not...
Yes, I have other chickens I have 28 total ... 17 hens and 11 Roos, but 10 roos will be "gone" soon.
Free is free. Even if they're only laying 2-3 eggs a week, that's SOME eggs for FREE. Get them
I agree, but at the same time - if they're NOT laying eggs much, would they be worth the cost...
