Our free ranging flock of 5 has dwindled down because of fox attacks. Our 18 month old Wyandotte hen is the sole survivor.
We have built an enclosure to keep her safe. We brought home 4 young pullets today to add back to the flock, and so she would not be alone. The new 4 are currently fenced...
Well, this is very interesting! She is really a funny chicken, she makes this squeaking sound, almost a honk. Wondering if yours does too? If I could go back, I would make an effort at a younger age to handle her daily, to break her skittishness. Not sure if it would've helped....at her age...
This is Opal---she is a cream legbar and is about a year old. She has been skittish since we got her. I've always been concerned that this was going to be an issue, and now we are at a loss as how to handle her. She has been healthy thus far, and a good layer. Gets along with her mates. She...
Sorry just saw your message. Sadly we had to euthanize her. We had her looked at by an avian vet. It seems that her fall injured her spine and she was unable to stand on either foot. She was in so much pain.
We are still feeling the loss of this very special hen. Thank you for checking in:)
This evening we put our 4 chickens in their run, about an hour before they were due to head into their coop compartment for the night. When we went out to close the inner door, our ameracauna was bleeding on her comb and beak and wouldnt move. It appears that the coop perch had fallen down. We...
The eggs we find in the open have been intact eggs. Initially it was just our last pullet to learn how to lay--Our black copper maran. So, we saw the dark brown eggs and knew they were hers. We hear her squawking mid morning so feel like she's laying eggs, just not any place we can find them We...
I have 5 hens, 4 are lovely reliable egg layers.the fifth hen is a new layer, and has just never gotten the knack of laying in the box. ( i keep 5 different breeds of chickens so I can tell who’s eggs Im getting, they are free rangers, and have always laid in their boxes) however, number 5, Her...

Thanks for your reply. I’ve searched all the threads about Tricide Neo and I will try that to assess the crack and infection. But my question is After I soak the foot in the Tricide Neo could I use prid to draw the infection of the bumble foot out for a few days? Then be able to better remove...
Thanks for your reply. Two things: yes we have 2 new pullets, they arrived a month ago. So that could be a stressor. She is definitely molting, feathers everywhere.
We changed her bandage and we took pictures before we wrapped it back up. The circles are definitely more pronounced today. Do you...
My 10 month old Buff Orpington caused me concern that she is not laying eggs, it's been 5 DAYS--yikes. I considered that she might be decreasing eggs due to the shorter days. She was not showing the signature signs of being eggbound, no funny walk, no squatting, and no decreased appetite. In...
