I used sweeter heater for 8 years. Love the safety and gentle warmth. Chicks love it. Easy to clean. Mine discolored after so many years, but still work well. I only wish the company would make legs for them - mounting the panels with strings to a storage tote (which I use as brooder) is not...
Yes, chickens will definitely try to roost on the top of these heaters and tops will become messy. You will need to attach something to prevent them from roosting.
I use Pullet-Shutt doors. Their "Turkey" door is large enough for my Dewlap Toulouse geese. If you have only ducks, I feel that their "standard" chicken door will be adequate.
Hello, I have large dewlap Toulouse goslings (grey). Parents are from Metzer Farms, they are 1 y.o. Goslings hatched May 26th. I will have DNA sex certificates next week from iQBirdTesting.
Located in Northern NJ. I will not ship but am willing to drive to meet half-way if reasonably close.
Unfortunately, there is a huge surplus of roos this time of year. Google rooster rescues (mostly in NJ). You can also join NJ Backyard Chickens group on FB, they can recommend a rescue. I had a very difficult time rehoming my surplus roos unless they are a very desirable breed. Good luck!
I want to build a large run (100 feet by 50 feet) for my combined chicken and goose population.
I will have avian netting on the top, but was wondering what to use for walls. I need them to be at least 8 feet tall. The run will be quite visible so needs to be nice. Did anybody use metal...
There are two very detailed and comprehensive goose egg hatching guides here. One guide, by Pete55, recommends cooling and misting after the 6th day. Another one, by shelleyd2008, notes that cooling and misting is not necessary based on this and other users' experience. So: to cool or not to...
I agree that local hatchery/breeder is the best choice. However, I was not able to find any hatcheries or breeders in my neck of woods when I was looking for goslings this spring. So I ordered from Metzer farms - two sexed Large Dewlap Toulouse goslings. They arrived healthy and so far are...
I have heritage RIRs, BCMs, and two Wyandottes. Wyandottes lay much smaller eggs than RIRs and BCMs. They are large, slow, and docile. Out of the 3 breeds above, I would recommend RIRs as a good starter breed - they lay pretty much every day, even in winter; their eggs are huge, especially...
