My son has a keen interest in hatching eggs; he's been showing me pics of rare and odd breeds along with places to buy them, and he is asking to go in "halfsies" on an incubator. He'll buy the eggs.

I'm looking for one with a good reputation for high hatch rate, auto turn, auto temp and auto humidity. If I can find one for under $150, even better. I'm even willing to build one if someone has a parts list and source.

Am I being realistic or am I asking for too much? If it helps, I'm close to Waco, TX.

Thanks in advance!

Nurture Right 360 is the best deal under $400, in my opinion. It's been sold out for months thanks to Covid, but is back. There is a lot of info about it in various posts on BYC if you want to do a search on here.

I have two NR360s as well as a Brinsea that was more expensive and doesn't work as well.
X2, the Nurture Right 360 is the best IMO. I just turned out another 100% hatch rate in mine. I got mine from a nearby TSC. Call to see if they have it, the websites aren't always accurate. The website for my local TSC said out of stock, but when I called they said they had one. It's such a great incubator. I got mine for $150.

Our TSC says it's available to be shipped to them but they won't stock one. It looks good so I guess I'll put in an order.
Hm, that's strange. If they'll ship one that's probably good though. I think you'll really like it. One thing I did with mine is got 2 of those clear sticky adhesive hooks and stuck them on the sides. It's kinda hard to take the lid off otherwise.
These ones.

Glad I found your post. I am looking for incubator for my kids. We are using 4H incubator now but want to continue egg journey after Embryology Project is over. Do you think we can incubate serama shipped eggs in this one ?

Yes, it does a great job. I've used it to hatch small guinea and bantam chicken eggs to large duck eggs and had mostly great hatches in it. The only think I would recommend is making sure that any very small or very large eggs are turning properly. I have better turning in this than in my Brinsea, but I still would keep an eye and make sure the eggs are getting time on all sides, just in case.
