Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

Let me know how it goes with you. I have no idea how much of a fluke this whole experience has been.

Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

Been over two months now... All chickens still healthy and all are happily producing strong, healthy eggs. So... I guess I might say don't panic. I know all the literature seems serious, but your chicken might be just fine.

Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

Update of sorts... One week later... So far none of the chickens look sick, and none have died. A couple of our young pullets have begun laying new small but perfect little green eggs, and our leghorn I suspected above has resumed laying her big perfect white eggs. I can't be sure all...

"I better post a picture of that!" Weird rubber alien egg.

Thank you both for your ideas and links. I posted another thread about this in the disease forum... once I found out it was a serious medical condition. I thought it would be better to have the discussion there. I have posted an update there just a few minutes ago, though I'm still not sure...

Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

Thank you so much for giving the number for that avian health office in Puyallup. She was super helpful and after a long conversation with her, I feel like hubby and I understand a lot more about it than we did before. She explained that it's likely one of our older hens (and our oldest...

Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

So you think it wouldn't be a pullet? That would rule out three. We can tell them apart, we only have one of each breed, on purpose! We have only one green egged hen, and she's been laying healthy eggs nearly every day, so it's probably not her. When I'm feeling the pelvis, am I feeling...

Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

Thanks... I can at least call them for advice this morning. We have 10 hens. Two roosters We are around and will be trying to narrow it down, but all look fine to us so far, and with the season, not all are laying right now, a few are young pullets who never laid yet. I'm not sure what...

Washington. I am trying to find a local vet who sees poultry for advice, but right now I don't even know which hen laid this.

But the link also talks of success if treating early, vaccinations, and respiratory infections, which makes me think there's a communicable element. I may not save the hen that laid this, but what about the rest of the flock?

Found a "lash egg" - Now what?

I posted in the wrong forum, because I thought what we had was just a weird egg formation, and it turns out it is more serious. A "lash egg". https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1076044/i-better-post-a-picture-of-that-weird-rubber-alien-egg So I should have posted it here. Now what...

Oh no... that doesn't sound good :( Can I treat my whole flock? I don't know which chicken laid it. They all look good. How are antibiotics administered? We have 10 hens and two roosters.

"I better post a picture of that!" Weird rubber alien egg.

Hi all We saw this in the coop and knew we'd better cut it open. We cut it open, and I knew we'd better post some pictures and ask y'all! It's rubbery. It has the consistency of slicing a hot dog in the solid part. It didn't smell real good. We have a few new pullets we've raised who...

Four week old backyard bred peepers... EE crosses.

Bless her heart. Well, ready or not here they come! I need to find more ways to eat eggs, or more friends to give them to! :)

That's about how it went. And I did want to make sure I got a leghorn egg under her this time! I am not sure I *needed* more chickens, but how could I tell momma no? :) She just wants to be a momma. Both the blond chicks may be from this momma... they look very alike.

I've read the EE sexing thread, and it seems mine don't ever look exactly like the examples ;) Will try to get better pictures then as they grow up. It's early yet, I know. They're cute, and healthy, and that's the most important thing right now. Thanks anyway so far! :)
