sorry it took so long to get back to this. I didnt know what to do so I did take the splint off as her foot was purple. I took her outside a couple times to see if she would try to walk but she was actually walking on her elbow(if thats what its called). I ended up calling a friend to come...
If it were me (I hope never but its easy to step on a chicken, isn't it?) I think Id glue it. If you have some of that blue paper towel stuff it is awesome for injuries as it absorbs well and is very strong. Id try gluing a small piece to the crack on the beak and let that part grow out. I'm...
I have a young hen with a problem. My son brought her in as she was not walking properly. I though it was a broken toe so I splinted what I thought was the broken toe. I soon saw that all toes were involved so I made a boot and kept the splints on. Still no improvement. Took her outside as...
I'm not having much luck with this episode. Ive tried Apple cider vinegar soaked oatmeal almost every day (about 3 lbs soaked in 2 cups of acv giving 30+ chickens about 4 cups aday free fed) and lots of yogurt. Ive backed off giving them any fruit or flour products.
I'm not sure what to do...
took your advice. Im going to try the epsom salts in their water and try to catch the worse off tonight and dose them. Im going to dose Chester the molester as well as I think he is the one passing it around.
Ill let you know how it goes.
I think Ill keep up with the apple cider vinegar tho...
I have about 8 with this and I'm not sure how I would treat them with mono stat. Are you talking about the suppository or the cream?
Ive been dealing with this for a long time. I'm hoping I can treat them as a crowd with something as the yogurt and apple cider vinegar doesn't seem to be doing...
Im still having a problem with Vent Gleet. Just when I think that Ive licked it it comes back again.
I really like Chester my wonderful rooster but if he is the reason this is still making the rounds..............
I have a few hens that are really scraggly looking, but they dont seem to have V...
Try spraying tea tree oil on the ones getting pecked on. I have had great success with this stuff. The chickens hate the smell and taste and they will leave the injured party alone. (Ive used it on my son's finger to try and deter his nail nibbling) Ive even used it on the combs when they...
I have a fan going in my room to block outside and inside noise. It does a great job. I don't even hear Chester the molester until I want to. A friend gave him to me as he was getting picked on and wouldn't have lived long so she gave him to me. It took a few days for him to get his legs...
If a roo gets aggressive its isn't likely they will change. You can cow them but generally they will take any opportunity to attack. Is this your only roo? If you have more than they'll be more aggressive to try and be cock of the walk. If he's the one and only Id butcher him before all that...
I used to be a dog groomer and had the nails to contend with. It was really hard not to cut the quick on dogs with black nails. I had no idea there would be blood source to the end of the beak! My oldest girl (going on 7 this year!) has a beak that gets crossed for a while and then it gets...
