Crazy bent neck on late hatch chicks

Thanks, the neck has straightened out but the legs are going back and won't stay under her. I splinted them so they stay together but she can't stand. I hold her and force feed her but... I like all of your advice, I am hatching chicks from mail order so it is a bit of a crap shoot. I did pretty...

Chick born with egg white (?) on it, now dried on...

The yolk absorbed, it just had egg white on it. I ended up putting her in a warm bowl of water and letting her soak until I could get the gunk off. She couldn't fluff up so I didn't think I could leave her like that but I was also afraid a bath might get her cold ad kill her. I put her in the...

    My First Time Incubating!

I dropped one this time too. I kid you not, it was right after I rolled my eyes at someone's post that said, "be careful, it's easy to drop eggs". UGG

Crazy bent neck on late hatch chicks

A number of years ago I had to help a chick hatch who pipped and then got stuck. Her neck was crooked (I assume because it stayed bent over in the egg a day or 2 too long). One box had 3 broken eggs then hatched 4 out of the remaining eggs... who know??? My egg that had a loose air sac but a growing moving chick clear up to lockdown still hasn't hatched. Now it's day 23. The air sac was saddleback so I don't know if it died or what. I think I will leave it alone...

My name is Karen. We have had chickens in our little back yard downtown for about 9 years. I started because I had a baby and we wanted nutritious eggs for him. Now I am hatching my own, this is probably the 4th batch because I love it and think it is a good educational thing for my kids. In the...

Chick born with egg white (?) on it, now dried on...

One of my chicks hatched and was laying on its back, I checked back a couple of times and it was still on its back so I got in there and it was stuck to the floor of the incubator. I took it out and tried to rinse of the stuff with warm water but I was afraid the baby would get too cold. So I...
