Eggs what do you do if they are dirty and how dirty is acceptable? Maybe you could show me your eggs you collect?

Ace Hardware, in my case. I’m sure any of the big box hardware stores would have it. I got a few artificial turf door mats and cut them to fit. Super easy.

Eggs what do you do if they are dirty and how dirty is acceptable? Maybe you could show me your eggs you collect?

I have switched to artificial turf in my nest boxes. It’s super easy to keep clean, the eggs pretty much “float” on the bristles, the chickens don’t seem to mind it, it lasts a long time, and you don’t end up with shavings or straw pieces all over the place. Desexing rooster?

I have eight 13 week old birds and one is looking like a rooster. Does anyone castrate their roosters? Does it make them nicer? Do they still act as guardians to the hens? I’d love to keep him because he is especially beautiful!

    Crud on head, long toenails

One of my chickens has yellowish crud on her face and comb, and also some very long toenails. See attached photos. She is about 2 1/2 years old. Any idea what the crud is and does it need treatment? Do I need to trim her claws, and if so, how do I do it? Thanks in advance for any advice.
