    1/2 x 1/2 hardware cloth is what I used and have had no problems. I wouldn't go any larger than that.

    Yes thats a large ridge vent. The birds seem to be doing fine. They have only been outside for a couple of weeks now. go to my BYC page and look at the ventilation.
