Hi guys. UPDATE on PLUME'S HEALTH
She's still inside. i keep her in a room with low heat. it's been 2 weeks now. i stopped froce feeding her because she seems to have gained appetite but i'm not ready to put her back outside in the freezing weather because she did lose a lot of weight while...
Hi there,
i'm asking for your help. One of my Creamlegbar girls (named Plume, which translates fro Feather in french) she stopped laying for a couple days before I noticed.
Then she seemed sick (wouldn't get out in the morning, etc) so I brought her inside. Noticed she wasn't eating or drinking...
thanks for your response. with time, it's been a week today, i think she is starting to integrate, actually on the first day i decided to crate her inside the coop because i felt too bad for her. She is in her corner a lot, but seems to be less picked on.. i just hope she will become part of the...
Hi there!
I wanted to introduce the new girl
I named her Coconut
She’s 3 months old!
Now my four other girls aren’t quite as thrilled as I am to have a new friend.. At first they picked at her a lot, I put her in a crate inside the coop so they would get used to her. Now its been 4-5 days and...
Hi there. Needing your precious help.
i have a 1 1/2 year old Ameraucana Splash.
she was brought home with her sister three weeks ago, she was Laying before getting here but hasn’t laid since. Although I take her out, she doesn’t seem like the other hens are picking on her, even though she’s...
there a window at the back that hashard poultry fence that I can’t open or close, there’s nothing in the roof though..
I open the side door and give them access to the grass in the pen all day, so at least 9AM until they get back in to perch around 6:30PM. Thoughts?
i thought about that idea but there a lock to keep it closed that I would not be able to close if I use strings, that’s why I can’t seem to find a solution
Actually I didn’t see that when I went to buy it, but I didn’t find any other way than, yes crawling and stretching to close it from the inside.. any ideas? My other coop I had made myself but I had help, I’m a single woman and not much of a builder in my own so I and figure out a solution that...
that’s actually a great idea to put a shield on top of the cage so they can roam outdoors in winter, because I can’t leave them secluded in the coop.
I’ll actually be going to see them morning and night to open and close the coop door so I’ll keep a little shovel to make sure snow doesn’t...
Thank you very much! For the predators, I always close the coop entirely at dusk when they get if and perch themselves in it, I took a picture and they seemed comfy so I think for daytime, the outdoor cage would be ok.. what is poultry netting?
Hi there!
since moving out of the country for three years, I missed my chickens so much!
i just moved and could finally get myself a new coop and some new chickens.
i used to have a big handmade coop with a large fence in the woods, and four dogs to make sure no predators approached..
But now...
Hi Guys!
So here's my question: back in winter time, i had a young hen who was egg bound and almost died, i recovered her and she is not very happy in my 5 hen flock. (see profile pic)
She is a Ameraucana X Brahma and i love her colouring, she's Egg shell white and her neck and chest is dark...
it's like she becomes in ''trans'' when her face itches, she can literally throw herself from the upper floor of the coop, it's like she can't control herself..
I really wonder what it is.
She has been in the coop for 4 days now and THANK GOD the other girls are nice to her.
She still has...
OK so I realized it's not her COMB that itches, it seems to be her BEAK
It's like it starts ITCHING so BAD that she looses it, she just goes crazy trying to scratch it and falls down, sometimes gets stuck somewhere because she's not in control of herself when it happens.
Sometimes I rub her face...
Thanks!
im sure its not WRY neck, I looked a lot about this and it doesn't look like this at all.
I really dont know about the heat, but she's been in a cooler place since yesterday and seems to be doing better
I will put Omega-3 capsules on her feed, thats a good idea, will def. try it...
