It’s official…All pullets! Getting six eggs a day now…however, one girl is VERY aggressive. Never had a hen quite like this one before…she takes a swipe at me every chance she gets and is devouring the feathers of the more timid birds. Can’t wait for Spring so I can do some regrouping. 😬
All right pullet people…I have to confess I’m beginning to think you are right!!! Here are new pics…birds are now 8 weeks old…(both are MPC Partridge Olive Egger) darker bird is “suspected roo” but I’m beginning to think I am wrong!! 🤔 When do cockerels start trying to crow?
This is exactly how my suspected roo looked and compared at that age…I think we are right. I’ll post more pics in a week or two…I’m betting I’m going to see that comb turning pink pretty soon…
No luck yet. Want to compare what we’ve got? Here are pics of my two. I think the one with long tail feathers is a pullet and the darker one probably cockerel, but opinions I’ve gotten are that both are pullets. I dunno though…my gut really feels like the dark one is going to be a roo. We’ll see...
Ohmygosh! Really??? lol…Ok…why do you guys say pullet?? I think cockerel because it’s the only one with no tail feathers, very upright posture, super thick legs and feet, largest comb so far, and pointy back and neck feathers coming in. The other chick I have of the same breed is much lighter in...
Thanks for taking a stab at it! I’m guessing the breed from these possibilities- the MPC blues/greens mix. I think it’s the only striped chick? Also attaching some better pictures….
Snowy Easter Egger
Blue Easter Egger
Cuckoo Bluebar
Partridge Olive Egger
Super Blue Egger
Silked Easter Eggers...
This is a Partridge Olive Egger chick (I think….it’s from MPC Blues/Greens assortment so could be any of
Snowy Easter Egger, Blue Easter Egger, Cuckoo Bluebar, Partridge Olive Egger, Super Blue Egger, Silked Easter Egger, Blue Favaucana) who hatched May 10th, so nearing 4 weeks old now. I got...
Hi! I'm pretty sure one of my Partridge Oliver Egger chicks from MPC is a roo. Curious to see what one looks like all grown up as an adult. It's hard to know when you search online when you type into the search if you're REALLY looking at a picture of a "Partridge Olive Egger"...and of course if...
Wondering about Blue Favaucana chicks…I’m pretty sure I got one in my MPC blue/green assortment (she looks exactly like the chicks in the MPC picture except she doesn’t have feathered legs…). She is VERY small and not growing like the others. She’s eating great, drinking great, pooping great...
Maybe they pulled a different breed by accident? I guess time will tell but I wondered if anyone would be like, “oh that’s definitely a _____” I’m kind of hoping she’s some sort of splash 😄
But looking at the Ameraucana chick EmmaRainboe posted…she does look a LOT like that…🧐
