Well it's really well ventilated and dry, we have a poop board with PDZ, pine shavings on floor , the heat lamp is about 6ft off floor sort of over part of roost, they can't jump on it.

I am wondering if I should use the heat lamp in the coop starting Monday for a few days? The girls are in a nice dry 10 x10 coop with vents, covered windows, and door that we put 2 layers of heavy plastic. They have a coop door I keep open because they are in an enclosed run and have been very...

I wasn't able to make Chickenstock yesterday because I had to work, but I had to share this picture! My first eggs today, the silly girls wouldn't use their fancy nesting boxes, but laid them on top of the extra bag of pine shavings I left in the coop

Thank you to everyone, this morning the one dog that got the chick went outside, sat by the coop and kept her head hung. Our other dogs wouldn't even go by her. The grandkids know what happened and are planning on planting flowers over the grave today. Welcome to all the new people, this is an...

Thanks cuppycake, I guess I needed to hear that tonight. We are newbies and I have been so careful with these chicks. Sigh, I know things happen but I sheesh I am sure tired of it always being bad things. I plan on just telling them before they come over.

Thanks, we have 12 and just a little while ago our rat terrier came to get us as 1 flew out of the cattle trough where we have been keeping them. It looked so funny just sitting there with a confused look on it's face . If you don't mind me asking where are you?

Do you think it would be ok to put the 5 wk old chicks out in their coop this weekend? We plan on putting the light out there and not letting them outside, we remade over a 10 x 10 shed for them , using a lot of pine shavings on the floor too.We live down by Fenton.
