Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So, ummm......If I were to try to process 2 of my roos, could I just cut their necks, hang them up to bleed out, and then skin them (so I don't have to pluck) and then chop off the legs/thighs and cut the breasts out and skip the "gutting" part of things?

Do you think it would be ok to put the 5 wk old chicks out in their coop this weekend? We plan on putting the light out there and not letting them outside, we remade over a 10 x 10 shed for them , using a lot of pine shavings on the floor too.We live down by Fenton.

I put my 5 week olds out last weekend. No heat lamp, and they're allowed out into their yard everyday. I don't know how many you have, but there are 17 of ours snuggling together so they keep warm at night. They've been fine.

Thanks, we have 12 and just a little while ago our rat terrier came to get us as 1 flew out of the cattle trough where we have been keeping them. It looked so funny just sitting there with a confused look on it's face

. If you don't mind me asking where are you?

We went to "the Critter Barn" in Zeeland for the first time today. So many chickens!! They also have goats, sheep, donkeys, cows, horses, cats... but the one animal that my almost 7 year old was most drawn to were the baby chicks. We kept reminding her that we have 3 that she can snuggle all the time.

One last thought before I actually get to work boiling more sap. Last year I put maple syrup on the table at CS. I think kris rose got one? Anyway, I think I'd like to trade a little for some honey this year, or ? The saps been flowing like crazy this year. My buckets overflowith onto the ground. I'm tired of splitting and feeding wood to the fire. Also not sure if anyone's interested but I just sold a tiller and have a zero-turn comm. mower on CL GRapids if anyone's interested. Trying to make room for more new toys and critters.
I sure did!! It was yummy :)! Are you going to sell any this year?

Here's the new black shoulder male..... he's SOooo pretty! I am not sure if I want to part with him. So I may hold him and a BS hen back.... ugh decisions! I will enjoy him while I have him I guess.

Hard to get a go photo of him..... his colors sing in the sun, but not so much in the shade!
This boy is a beautiful! I have lusted after peas for a long time but no room :(.
