I have multiple feeders outside but none inside. She wasn’t smaller until this started so I’m hoping it’s that she is eating less and not something more serious.
That’s what I’m worried about she seems to be losing weight....would it be appropriate to add a feeder inside the coop? I haven’t because I wanted her to come out but I’m not certain she is
Hi!
My flock is about a year old and until now I’ve been fortunate to not have any “behavior” issues amongst my hens. So I’m really stuck here...
A few weeks ago one of my hens was picked on pretty badly and ended up with some wounds to her head and around her eye. I treated the wounds...
Hi!
I have 10 hens in the finger lakes region, just south of Rochester. They get the AM sun but it’s shaded in the afternoon and they can go under the coop. We added the “skirt” over the winter so they would have more shelter from the wind and snow.
Originally I thought it was just 1 bird...
Her wounds have scabbed....I added 2 Perches and a bale of straw. I’m working on a pallet structure and expanding the run. I let her out and she was scratching around and looked pretty happy, but then she retreated to the coop and wouldn’t come out. Then I was worried she would get beat up again...
We purchased all of our hens at the same time about a year ago. Not including the space under the coop, the run is roughly 16x16’. I have 2 feeders and 2 waterers.
here are some pics including the injured (who looks much better today ☺️)
I have a buff who was pecked at near her eyes and neck....she was hiding in the egg boxes for part of the AM yesterday. With sudden extreme temps in my area I was concerned she wouldnt come out for water. I removed her from the flock for the day and put her in the coop last night after the rest...
Looking for advice:
My Buff was injured on head near her eye and her neck...there was some bleeding and and many lost feathers. I cleaned the wound with peroxide and some triple antibiotic ointment.
She was definitely shaken up and was hiding out in an egg box. We have had a sudden and...
I’m sorry. I somehow missed your comment. She has been acting completely normal since Monday morning. She’s eating well, laying, drinking and is excited for treats. Her crop has been feeling more defined and less doughy-I’ve been checking her a couple times each day just to make sure.
Thank you...
Her crop felt softer than that of my other birds. The crops of my other hens felt firm, round, definite “ball shaped”. Hers was soft and (forgive my technical term), squishy. All of shells have been hard.
I’m honestly not sure about her droppings. As far as I could tell, I didn’t see anything...
