Oh and I found a nest in my tall patio pot and watched the egg count and after 8 days and no change and no mother sitting there I feared it was abandoned so I got an incubator. I truly thought none would even hatch after so long and our high temps in AZ.
If I were to put the chicks outside at 4 weeks would another adult quail couple hanging around adopt them? Is there a better place to release them than a rescue?
I live in Arizona. I have 13 chicks, 2.5 week old coturnix are in my garage. I’ve taken out the heating plate as without it due to the hot weather the brooder temp is at lowest 85 at night and 90-95 by day. Is this ok! If they need to learn lower temps I’d need to bring them inside the house...
Actually, 3 came on Day 22, then 10 on Day 23c counting the end of 24hrs as 1…
I have no idea why! But in my research on Google I found anywhere from 18-23. Call it quits on Day 25.
How big does my brooder need to be for 13 quail chicks, and as they get bigger in the 4 weeks will it be big enough?
I have this,
Also can I get the temp higher? it’s at 85%, with the heater on? The open lid lets heat out. The room isn’t cold either. 76%.
My incubator is on day 21, I see slight wobbly movement of 3 of 14 eggs for 2 days. Is that a good sign or bad like they can’t break out? I’m worried as it’s late for them! They are Gambel Quail.
