    My big boy

I recently picked up my boy, 'baby'. I was surprised at how heavy he had got so decided to weigh him, 10.430kg(22.99lb) he's a 1 year old Ross broiler, a runt I saved from the farm. He's the most loving chook I've ever met and always wants cuddles. He also likes me to vacuum him with the vacuum!

I think this little fella was going to give encouragement to the yet to hatch egg. But it was such a big job getting out of that egg.. So tiring

Managing humidity in a cheap incubator?

I will be doing it again, no matter what 😁 it's too exciting not to. But next time hopefully not quite so nerve-wracking

    Newbie from Michigan! :)

Hi Nick, welcome! You're going to love your chooks so much! You'll wonder why you didn't get them sooner. And yes, it's perfectly OK to have conversations with the girls 🤣

Managing humidity in a cheap incubator?

Thank you for that, yep, I got rid of the bottle soon as I got home yesterday. I hope it's not too late.. Put some water in at day 18? Or the end of day 17? Certainly I'll do things different next time. The instructions for this incubator are useless alright. How to set it up and that's it! My...

Managing humidity in a cheap incubator?

I think I have the same incubator. M16? This is my 1st time, I'm just following my nose. Day 14 yesterday, candled last nite and thought the egg cell looked far too small. Should I just get ridve that stupid bottle, mine spilled everywhere too. How much water instead do you think? They're...

    More evidence

Funny! My light sussex got a fright and accidently flew over the low fence keeping them away from my flower gardens. Big panic ensued. I suggested that since she'd just flew over she could fly back. No. Couldn't be done.

Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

I sprouted some wheat for my girls. Thought it'd be a lovely treat, like yours, they weren't too sure bout the idea but when I came back to see how it went, they'd carefully removed all the sprouted bits to just eat the wheat!

    Does your rooster do this?

He'll be doing a security check. I've got a camera in my coop and I've noticed that each night at bedtime the head chook goes in 1st and does the security check, looking everywhere to ensure there's no predators or bogeymen hiding anywhere. When they're happy that it's allgood they make the...
