Oh yes! Spring is right around the corner and that means.....CHICK DAYS!!!! All kinds...chicken chicks, ducklings, keets, poults....My wishlist grows longer every day!
I haven't washed them yet, but it's so exciting! I have a BBW and a BBB. Evidently one of them has laid twice, but I just saw them today. I got them both as one day old chicks June 5th, 2013 and learned later that this breed is only meant for meat. At nearly 8 months old they are both healthy...
i think it's great that you can do so much for your girls. i also do everything i can for mine. i 'do' have the time, but not always the wherewithall to do what i want to do. in the beginning, i bought oyster shells too, because i wanted only the best for my babies, until i came here and started...
you go above and beyond viollett.....but why do you spend dollars on oyster shells....don't you partake of your own chook's egs....offer the eggshells, clean, dried and crushed. you will get better results.
hi all. one of my bbw is acting very sickly. scrunching her head in and closing her eyes and standing all by herself. she would not eat this morning or take water. lethargic when she does walk.
she was perfectly fine yesterday. i let everybody out yesterday and she was frolicking and playing...
everyone has their own opinion on this and i'll offer you mine. i have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that my chickies have no teeth and have to swallow their feed whole...also i have heard that pellets fill them up faster and they are left with much more 'free' time to get bored...
gosh...lucky you....i tried the cabbage ball thing and it hung there for a week...untouched. took it down, cooked it, and offered it again. it was gone in minutes....spoiled chickens
i don't have an answer, but can tell you that have a 2 year old buff orpington that quit laying about 3 months ago...for no apparent reason either. at first i thought she might be egg bound but she wasn't. then about a week ago i caught her laying again and she has been pretty regular since...
