    Help! Unwell Hen

We brought her in a few hours ago but no improvement so far. Plenty of ventilation in the coop and the run is fully shaded. We have buckets of water down and multiple waterers. But she wont take anything. We are only getting it in her by putting drops on the tip of her beak. :(

    Help! Unwell Hen

Hi! My 9 month old head hen Betty has something going on and I am not sure what to do. I think it is heat stress but I am honestly not sure. It is almost 100 with heat index currently. She is not eating or drinking at all. She is holding her mouth open, stretching out her neck and closing her...

How do I know what kind of pest I have?

We emptied the coop and run entirely. Sprayed everything including the birds with Poultry protector that we got at TSC. We put down a generous amount of First Saturday Lime along with some DE. So far no more bugs. Hopefully that works.

How do I know what kind of pest I have?

Help! Monday my Orpington was acting super odd, Roosting all day in the run, not pecking and scratching like normal. Yesterday one of My Bantam Cochin's was crying and screaming all day. I couldn't figure out what was going on. This morning I went to clean out the coop which we just cleaned on...

Help with integrating pullets into flock

We ended up taking down the chicken wire we had used to separate them off inside the run which created a completely separate area and put up a long gate with the panic door. This way they were a little more open. They pretty much stayed in their "area" and the big girls stayed in theirs but they...

Help with integrating pullets into flock

Is that because they won’t be jealous of the little ones food?

Help with integrating pullets into flock

The big girls are on Tucker Milling 16% Layer Pellets which I leave out during the day in a feeder that they have plenty of access to. They have free choice oyster shells. When we integrate I will have to put everyone on the grower feed. We are also using Tucker Milling for that. I will...

New here- have 4 chicks and I'm in way over my head

I am a new chicken Mom too, so I completely feel your pain. We have six 8 week old girls and three 7 month old girls that we got when they were 4 months old. We have lost one pullet and 2 baby chicks in our 3 months having chickens and I admit it has been tough. When we got our first girls, the...

Help with integrating pullets into flock

Everyone has been so helpful so far so I was hoping for some advice on our integration process. Here is the background: We have six 8 week old girls and three 7 month girls - 1 buff orpington and two bantam Cochins that we got 3 months ago. The Orpington is the head hen and she is OBSESSED with...

    Outcast Chick?

Oh! At what age do they become pullets? :) They are six weeks old. I am a new chicken mom so this all new to me! I will measure the roost tomorrow and maybe we can move the chicken wire separating them from the older girls over to give a little more space. She was pacing back and forth again...

    Outcast Chick?

I feel silly asking this question but is it normal for chicks to outcast a chick that is different than them? We have one Blue Splash Maran who has feathered feet and none of the other chicks have feathered feet. (We had ordered two but one didn't make it from shipping.) The chicks will all...

Baby Chick with poop on her back

I have tried unsuccessfully to find an answer so I am hoping someone can help. We moved our 5 week old babies to the coop and they are doing really well so far. Today one of them was walking under the roost bar right when another baby dropped a cecal poop. Her little back is now covered in cecal...
