    Bantam scalped, skull bone exposed

She is inside recovering and I’ve been putting triple antibiotic ointment on it. I figured the flock would likely attack her again if I put her back in when she recovers. She’s the only Bantam so she’s an easy target. I have a separate run I’ve been using for our ducklings so my thought is...

    Bantam scalped, skull bone exposed

Thank you everyone. She’s separated from the flock and staying in the laundry room until she recovers. I wanted to minimize the risk of flies getting to her so I brought her inside. She’s moving around a bit today. I have to give her water with a dropper bottle because her eyes are swollen shut...

    Bantam scalped, skull bone exposed

Hello, My bantam was attacked by the other hens and has a substantial head wound. Her scalp is completely picked off and her skull bone is exposed. I’ve used vetericyn wound spray on it and triple antibiotic ointment. She’s is bad shape and was wondering is there’s more that I am do for her?

    BYC members in Massachusetts?

Thank you for all the replies! A BYC member got in touch with me earlier today so I've found a roo :) I wish I could take them all home with me!

    BYC members in Massachusetts?

Anyone need to rehome a rooster? I want to add a roo to my flock and I'd like try to save one from the stew pot if possible before I look elsewhere :)

Muscovy and chickens sharing a run?

I'm thinking of adding 4 muscovys to my flock. I currently have 10 hens. The ducks would have their own house but share a run with the chickens. I've read a few threads about chickens and Muscovy ducks sharing space and it being a disaster but usually the runs seem small. My run is rather large...

Yes. The hutch is going inside once we finish modifying it.

Found an old rabbit hutch on freecycle, gave it a little makeover, and will be using it as a brooder for the chickies coming home next week :)

    Two hens laying together?

The last few days I've noticed something odd, my white rock and my light brahma have been sharing a nesting box at the same time. There are several identical nesting boxes but all the girls prefer the same one. Typically they just take turns but for some reason they've been in there together...

    Finally got off the sidelines!

Hi everyone! My name is Kristen and i'm a former city dweller, moved country. After lots of researching and debating i finally decided to begin my backyard chicken journey. I bought 4 chicks in spring and now they've grown into beautiful little ladies. It is easily the BEST decision I've made...

Sold as an EE but I'm not so sure

She is hands down the sweetest girl in my flock and has SO much personality so no disappointment from me regardless!

Sold as an EE but I'm not so sure

We purchased this little lady when she was 3 weeks old and were told she was an Easter egger but she doesn't really look like any other Easter egger I've seen. She's a sweet heart and we love her but Im thinking I may have to break it to my son that Bunny may not actually lay Easter eggs lol[/IMG]
