I have not changed anything. No evidence of mites or that anything has tried to break into run or coop. Literally the only thing different is they have started laying their eggs in the coop. Maybe they will start back going into coop at night soon.
My 3 ISA Browns started laying on Christmas Eve. The temperature has dropped here in Louisiana to the teens for a low. All 3 are laying their eggs in the nesting box in the coop and since then I have to put them up at night. They will not go into coop at night by themselves. Is this a normal...
Merry Christmas everyone! The girls are right at 18 weeks and I got my first egg on Christmas Eve (WooHoo!) They have been much more vocal the past week or two and the last couple of days when I would pet them they would spread their wings a little and do the "squat". Boy how time flies...
A new update on the girls. They are 9 1/2 weeks old and it is starting to turn cool and the days are getting much shorter. I have built an additional run that is 4'X8' and they are running around and having fun. One change that I wanted to document here is they are going through their molt...
It took 2 nights for my girls to learn when to go into coop. After 2 nights of getting locked out(with me checking and letting them in) they got the hang of it. Now they don't miss bedtime. Many options that are great to have and it is extremely easy to install. My opinion is it is the best...
I moved my three to the coop at 2 and a half weeks old. They mostly stayed in the coop unless I was there to watch them in the run. I kept their food and water in the coop until they were at 5 weeks old. They learned to walk up and down the ladder from the coop to the run the very first day...
Week 6 - Girls are not changing much at this point except they are getting bigger each day. Probably last post for a while unless something drastic changes I am not expecting.
Week 5 and the girls are getting bigger every day. The small dark one (Missy Prissy) is feathering out now and the other two are starting to get their waddle. Not much changing with their behavior, but they are going into the coop at dark. I have a timer set for around dusk and they go in by...
I am new to chicks, but from what I have seen so far with my ISA Browns is at 2 weeks they started turning brown and as their feathers began to come in they got darker. The roo's are mostly white. From your pic, I would say they are hens except for the one in the middle which is mostly white...
We are at week 4 now and the girls have just about feathered out. Miss Prissy the darkest one and the runt is getting there but she is still a week or so behind the other two. I got a hanging 10lb feeder that is working great. It had an opening in the top to pour feed in and I covered it with...
Well I wanted to post some pictures of my 3 ISA Brown girls with a little commentary of what I did each week. Maybe it will help someone as I got some good information from the forums.
Week 1 - I picked up my girls from TSC as day old chicks. My guess was they were 3 days old since they were...
