It's a pen and within it is a coop that's all hardware cloth and more. They go in there every night with their little night light and it's very secure.
My Rock Barred hen, Sweetie MUST know about everything that goes on around here! She is SO inquisitive that she positions herself wherever the action is happening. Here she is, skulking around a corner at me, and then trying to figure out how to operate a motor vehicle. She also loves showing...
We've found that they are also not opposed to having a sip of beer occasionally. Of course, our chickens are Texans! They don't have the developed pallet of the French chickens! They don't really bother with the bread cubes. They seem to prefer it straight!
For me, they ALL taste and look good. I really don't see any difference in them internally. The deep yellow is nutritious and healthy. That's all I know.:)

Thank you. I hate this, but we may need to shoot it. Don't know how word spreads in the raccoon community, but if it gets out that there is a nice chicken meal to be had....gotta put a stop to that raccoon gossip now!
Hi Clare, I have just a little experience with a similar horror story. My neighbor's dog over a year ago, attacked my Golden Laced Wyndotte, Sugar. The dog had found her way into my pen and was munching on her back end. The dog had recently given birth and the neighbor had given me one of her...
Our dogs were barking at the grasshopper farting in the grass. At least, that's what we initially thought. Then, my husband spotted a bandit with stripes peering into our 2nd floor window, straight across from the top of his garage...he was LARGE!!! He told me with baited breath about the size...
I don't want to overstep someone who may have more knowledge on this, but I've read on this sight a while back that the Easter Eggers are indeed descended from the Americana chickens. So, it does make sense that EE are also called Americana breed.
