Hey there! I have two bantam ameraucanas that I got back in December 2021 as pullets so I don’t know their exact age. One of them, Rocky, started laying in February (which was surprising) and she laid consistently up until a few weeks ago and then stopped. She shows no signs of being unhealthy...
So start on a medicated starter when I get them and feed to the end of the bag and then it’s okay to switch to the all flock?
Thank you all for all your help! Just want to do everything right!
Hi there!
I currently have a small mixed back yard flock of chickens and after they were off starter/grower feed I was advised to switch to an all flock and offer oyster shells so I started feeding the dumor all flock.
In the next week I’m welcoming in some chicks and was looking into the...
Yes.
An update: I noticed she didn’t come out at all this morning so I picked her up out of the box and took her outside and she won’t stand up. Nothing is visibly wrong with her that I can see other than her staying nestled down and she seems the be shaking.
I have a silkie who started laying roughly two weeks ago now and in the past few days I caught her sleeping in the nesting box which she never did before, always roosted with my other chicken. I started paying more attention and noticed that she spends a good amount of time in there but does...
Thank you so much everyone you are absolutely right! She was sold to me as a mystic onyx which I thought laid dark brown eggs so once she started laying I definitely questioned it!
This is Betty! She’s about about 6 months or so and started laying about a month ago but I'm not entirely sure what breed she is! Any guesses? Included a picture of her eggs incase that helps at all!
I'm sorry I'm not sure I know what you mean by full sized versions, I just took these on my iphone! Is there a way I should upload them so they're full sized? Thank you!
Hi everyone! I’m looking for a cute/rustic/timeless name for my coop and am completely stumped! It’s a small backyard flock of 5, a mystic onyx, two silkies, an Americana and a fayoumi! So probably no “farm” names. I also live on a lake called Gardner lake so maybe something with that might be...
That is why I went with one layer of cattle fencing, for the strength and durability and am adding one laying (on the inside) of chicken wire for hole size.
It never hurts to be cautious of course, we’ve already purchased chicken wire to put another layer over as it’s not completely finished. Thank you for your input though.
Terrible pictures but we did the pallets and then lined it in cattle fencing and had the fencing go beyond the “wall”. We also have the window with move fencing covering that so plenty of ventilation!
What a beautiful flock you have !! Here are mine! The first picture from left to right is Cinnamon and Pepper, our silkies and Betty our mystic onyx and in the second picture are my newest members that are currently integrating, Sugar an ameraucana and "no name" (she will eventually get a real...
