Did anyone set September 2nd/3rd? I could use hatching buddies!

I'm joining just as the fun begins! We have 8 chicks already out, and 13 more to go. My roo is an EE and all of our backyard hens laid eggs under the broody which is an isa brown. The other hens are ee's, a brown leggern and assorted brown egg layers.

Are you supposed to take them off their feed and give them milk for a couple of days before processing?

Cornish x Babies Are Here!!! ***UPDATE WITH PICS!***

You aren't going to keep any for breeding? I am thinking that one of mine is a girl since her tail feathers are not so wide, and her comb is not as red. She is also a bit smaller. I thought about keeping her. Not sure. But her toes turn in. I don't really like that, but I think it could be...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

The egg that I am refering to is a light blue, large adn is from my big EE. She is a beautiful golden orange color with blue feathers on her tail. I accidently got an EE boy as a mystry chick from Mcmurrays. I may try hatching some of her eggs for a future generation. They are that good!

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote: It's what causes them to be lower in cholesterol! Sorry, I could not resist. I think that is a misnomer, but the fact remains that E.E. eggs are very good and a lot of my egg customers swear that they are lower in cholesterol, but I have read extensively and it seems to be a...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Does any one know why my EE's egg yolks are darker and seem to be slightly thicker in consistancy? My other chickens are red stars, black stars and a Wyandotte. All kept together on the same feed, but the EE's eggs seem to be slightly superior in yolk color and taste.

I wish I were closer! I would purchase your Dels! I just lost one of my chicks and the other one doesn't even resemble a Del.

Quote: I am not totally sure since I just recently aquired a couple each of these birds. However, it appears from the data that Dels lay larger eggs and a bit more often than Barred rocks. I believe the eggs are somewhat darker and speckled, not to mention the occasional cool purple martian...

Quote: Horizon, what kind of "dust" is in your dusting box? BTW, I am so excited to hear that my Mcmurray mutts have been validated! LOL! But I only got two and they are so different. One is little, the other big. One is smutty and the little one is not! Oh well, I love...
