just curious, is there a roost bar in their crate or do they just sit in a nest? If they sit, how do you keep them from getting all poopy since they seem to do that alot when they sleep??

Well, I'm down to 2 chickens in an 8 x 8 chicken coop,, and since there are only 2, my theory is they don't produce enough body heat to keep each other warm?? Anyway, I leave a heat lamp on all day, and sometimes I turn on a space heater set on a timer for 2-3 hours at a time. Spoiled?? Probably.

my chickens won't go outside on these really cold days, in fact, they've been closed in for 2 days . WIth the sun out today, they may venture out, but they just stick their head out and go back in, so I just keep it closed. Is that bad? Also, how do you keep birds out???
