Thank you. @3bird Yes Lucky and Scout both had surgery for bumble foot. Scout is home with me and we just soaked her feet in chlorhexidine for the first time. I’m not sure how long to soak them for so I just did 5 minutes and let them dry. Gonna add some of my green goo add clean gauze a wrap...
Thank you! @Isaac 0 She was one of a kind. I spent so much time with her after I saved her.. she was always so happy and sassy. I’m gonna miss our morning talks.
I hope everyone is doing well and that your Duck babies feet are getting better. 💜
I just want to say thank you to all of you who have helped Lucky and I on our journey together.
Unfortunately Lucky passed away today after a successful surgery. As she was moved to recovery and the vet sat with...
I have been able to remove half of both of her scabs. She is actually getting use to soaking and I’m not having to hold her there. So that makes a little easier. Soaking again right now and Hopi g to get some more pictures.
Dang it! Yeah it’s hard when they don’t show signs. My lucky girl doesn’t seem bothered by much. I just happened to be watching her one day and picked up her foot just right to wear I saw it didn’t look normal. Hopefully she gets feeling better soon. What kind of duck is she?
Current mood! A little meal worm treat this morning with friends. Lol looks like River (my mallard) wanted to be in the picture.
She loves to sit in the dog water bowl.
Oh no! I’m so glad you are catching it early. We thought my duck was getting calluses.. but as time went on I noticed the black scabs started. ;( They came on really fast. I hope since you caught it early it’s easy to take care of. Keep me posted on her.
Yeah it looks like soaking is helping a lot! I’m soaking her in Epsom salt in a large bowl with warm water. She hates it and won’t hold still. Is there an easier way to do this? I see people put their duck is Home Depot buckets. (Guessing they are much smaller than my 7.5 LB Pekin.) lol
I tried...
They get both the pellets and meal worms every day along with a mixture of fruits and vegetables.
Which includes corn, peas, zucchini, cucumbers, watermelon, strawberries, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and cantaloupe. :) they also enjoy mint from one of my herb plants.
Am I missing anything?
Yes I have heard this as well. I just feel terrible. She walks fine, and is eating and drinking. Still my sassy lady. So I’m hoping we can pull through.
