    Possible stuck egg

Thank you all for the information and replies. I really appreciate it. Brought her into the house tonight so I could keep a better eye on her.

    Possible stuck egg

Yea, blew my mind that an egg shaped mass would be in that area. I finally stumbled on a Google hit about the crop. Gave her a bit of oil and massaged it gently. Will check her again in a bit. Thanks so much!

    Possible stuck egg

I have 2 six month old Silkie hens that have both laid many eggs so far. About 10 days ago both got broody and have been hanging out in nest boxes. I pull them out to check on them and all has been fine until today. Or maybe I failed to notice it before. But one has an egg size bump on front...

Hi. Thank you. I have a couple of wooden ladders in the run, a few cedar logs perched on the ladder steps for extra perch area. They love the ladders. There are a bunch of cut logs around for them to perch on or hide behind. They like to hop from from one to the other. 2 old tires for dust...

    Eye and face look horrible.

I just noticed it today. Her eye was closed and kinda foamy. When I picked her up a scab type piece fell off that was near her eye. Her face looks irritated to me. Almost like it was burned. The Silkies I got in April, all the rest I got together in July. We have very few mosquitoes here.

Hi I live in Hempstead Texas and currently have 16 chickens and 3 roosters (that I know of). I have 5 each of Silkies, Buff Orpingtons, Black Jerseys and 4 Rhode Island Reds. My husband built a really nice 32' coop and run which is located in a fenced area in the pasture. They have it made...

    Eye and face look horrible.

I have a 3 month old Buff Orpington whose eye and face look horrible. Possible peck injury from others? Maybe hardware scratch but we are very careful. I have 16 hens and 3 roosters. Any idea if this is an injury or illness? So far all others look great. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.
