    So one of our ducks laid her first egg (that we know of anyway). I found it laying in the mud this morning when I went to let them out of their pen. It was covered in mud so I rinsed it off and stuck it in the fridge. Is it ok to eat even though it was covered in mud?

    Thanks. I was hoping she would hatch at least one but not too hopeful at this point. So what do I do if they don't hatch in a few days? Just toss them then put her back in the coop with the others? Or give her a few days with no eggs by herself and see if she snaps out of it?

    That happened with one of my rouens last week. I'm thinking he must have hurt it getting in or out of their pool. He wouldn't put any weight on one of his legs. I gave him half of a baby aspirin and he was fine the next day.

    I figured so much. I have 2 same age both white. The other has the same tail but crest is a little smaller but they like to cheat bump a lot and even with the known cockeral bantam cochin that's also 10 weeks. I've just been holding out hope that at least one was a pullet.

    When do cochin roos typically start crowing? Our marans roos started at about 5 weeks old. We have 6 nine week old cochins now and one definitely looks rooish compared to the others but no crowing yet.
