Well, the poor little guys ended up being Cornish X. I gave them away to someone who could raise them to be what they were intended to be...a meat bird. They were really sweet, though....

Just picked up the last 10 Tetra Tints at Southern States. Hoping to get my friend started raising chickens; figured this young breed would peak his interest, as they did mine. I'll probably keep 2 and send the rest on to him. Very cute chicks.

My rooster is missing tail/butt feathers also. I don't have a light on them at night, thus far. It hasn't gotten very cold yet. I understand that I cannot watch them 24/7, but even so, I should be catching some plucking behaviors here and there along the way, especially since it's affecting...

I have 10 young hens and 1 rooster, that I have raised since they were 1 day to 1 week old, living in a comfortable coop with a run . Some of my flock have lost feathers around their tails and bottoms. I see no signs of lice or mites. They're not a year old yet and don't appear to be molting...

I don't wash clean eggs, but if it has visible poo that I can just scrape off, I'll wash them and then I'll spray a little cooking spray oil on them to kind of "re-protect" them for the fridge. That's just me, though.
