Thank you, that’s good to know! I knew I read that about the comb and fertility somewhere but I’m sure it was about hens and I just assumed that applied to both!
I have a Silkie rooster, he’s about 2 years old, and I just noticed today that his comb has changed color. It’s always been a dark blue/purple color and today I noticed it’s almost a light grey color. I think I remember reading that combs are related to fertility so does that mean his fertility...
Hey guys! So I just thought I’d post an update on Lightning. I ended up buying some pour on ivermectin and sneaking down there at night and putting some on her and all the other chickens. I’ve only done one treatment a couple months ago and have seen a big difference in her and a few other’s...
Thank you guys!! I have some coconut oil on hand so I’ll use that until I can go get some parasite powder and Vaseline. I’ll go ahead and treat all of them, there’s a couple others who’s legs look similar to her’s but not quite as severe
Thank you guys! I was thinking if she was just molting the chick starter would help with her feathers since it’s higher protein? But it hasn’t made a difference. I will check everyone for mites/lice tonight and treat for scaly leg too. I just feel so bad for her! She used to be my prettiest one...
I’ve been feeding them Dumor chick starter for the last couple months because I’ve had broody hens raising chicks. She’s the only one that’s like this. I don’t think she’s being picked on though, she’s at the higher end of the pecking order and is normally the one picking on others lol. I mostly...
I haven’t, she’s pretty wild but I could grab her and check. I was beginning to worry it’s something like that since it’s not getting better. How would I treat that?
So I have a Polish frizzle hen, she’s about 1 1/2 years old. A few months ago, I’m not sure exactly how many, she started losing a lot of feathers. I thought maybe she was molting. But it’s been what feels like a long time and it doesn’t seem like it’s getting any better. Her feathers are very...
Thank you!!! I will definitely try that. I’ve tried taping it a little and it slid back out, but I will try again. I just didn’t want to tape it too tightly
I’ve only tried when I’m holding it in my hand, it’s normally popped back out by the time I put him on the ground. It seems like just the slightest movement and it’s out of joint.
