It seems they have acclimated pretty quickly. I did end up clipping one wing of each of the two new ones. They haven't flown off and the are all roosting together and on the same perch.
Egg production has dropped off a bit, but I think that is to be expected with the changes. One of the new...
Well, apparently, one of the new hens decided to take a stroll and we got some e-mails from some neighbors. We do have a nine foot privacy fence, but I guess that isn't good enough. I've read that one side of the wings can be clipped without causing them discomfort. Anyone want to tell me the...
Thanks for the help and advice. Yeah, it's not like they are continually fighting. Just more like the original three stick together and the new two are sticking together. I guess over time they will work things out.

I know the conventional advice is to get two pens and keep them close so...
How long does it take for hens to get accustomed to people? They will eat treats near me but freak out if I try to pet them.
It's been about two weeks. Just wondering when they start to calm down. I bought them from the 6-10 week pen.
I picked up some hardware cloth and some extra lumber. Will be reinforcing it tomorrow.
Honestly, didn't know hardware cloth was just a tighter type of wire.
Sorry if I'm over posting. In the other thread, they said I should ask for other opinions.
Thanks Mountain Peeps for the response. Maybe I will have to wait. Just not sure how that will impact he/she or the rest of the birds.
When would I know for sure?
