Yes, the other wattle is now becoming swollen. It's about 1/2 the size of this one. We don't have an aviary vet in proximity... But I think I am going to try epsom salt / baking soda poultice (used normally for bumblefoot)... I've read that epsom salts are good to draw out infection... so we...
Hi again... The inside of her beak looks normal. no strange color etc...
She eats and drinks fine... but wants to stay in the coop all day like she's broody, but doesn't have any eggs she's sitting on. Also, the other wattle is now almost the same size. they are hot to the touch and fairly hard.
I am not sure. I’m out of town today, but I’ll be back tomorrow and will check it and reply. She is acting the same as the gem in the original post, she eats and drinks just fine.
Hi. I also have a hen that has the same small spot on one wattle and a huge “hard” swollen area on the other. This one also started small. Lancing did nothing. Any ideas? I started a thread also, but no luck
I agree…. But no aviary vet options near me. We’ve been treating with wound spray, but I’m really hoping someone can tell me if we can use a poultice to draw out the infection.
Hi. Thank you for replying. She went “missing” for about 10 days. That was 30 days ago. Then came back with this wound. It grew pretty fast. Within 10 days after her being back, it was this big. Theee was only blood when I lanced it. But I will admit that I may not have gone deep enough.
