My 6 week-old Ameracauna has likely broken her wing. She got caught in a falling cage door. She can't hold it up over her shoulder, and it is hanging low. Anyone know how to set a wing? It seems to be the upper bone. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks for the encouragement. She is still quiet, but she's eating a bit of crumble, and taking water from an eyedropper. I think her wing is broken. I've never set a bone before, but I'm going to try.
Our 6 week old chick just got injured by the cage door (very heavy) falling on her wing and back. She won't/can't stand, is relatively motionless, and acts calm. I will not take her to a vet. What would you look for to see whether she could be rehabilitated, or is better off if I put her...
Thanks for the suggestions. Keeping the run dry is tricky, because of the slope of the yard. A solid wall in the rainiest times of the year sounds effective.
The run area around my coop is VERY muddy. In Portland we have clay soil that gets pretty mucky. We have already added pea gravel to the soil to increase drainage, but it still gets mucky and can stay that way during our rainy weather. Any ideas?
