Chukar questions
Hello I am an experienced quail raiser, but have not raised partridge before. I was offered some chukar chicks (days old). I'd actually really only like a pair but obviously you cannot sex them as chicks. Does anyone know off the top of their head at what age they'll display behaviors that...- Kherome

Yeah, the roo has a red chest and a slight face mask as well. Hens would have a speckled chest, not the solid rusty colored one. The Tibetan hen you have you would have to vent sex, or in this case you already know because the roo is obviously not laying the eggs. Also, if those are the only two... -

Not to me. It seems to me he was explaining the forum to you, and he is right. The coop question comes up ALL the time. The forum has a search function and it should be used. Just type "quail coop" or "sick quail" or "laying eggs" etc, whatever you want to know. If you can't find an answer then... -

Perhaps she's been pecked in the eyes? Quail seems to like to aim for the eyes and nostrils. Mean little suckers. -
HELP! Quail has a naked back?
No it's not "normal" per se. It is normal to have a few feathers get pulled from the back of the head but not to bald the bird. That is a sign of too few females or bullies usually. -

Yep I sure did. So far 8 out of 11 have hatched too, a pretty great hatch rate for shipped eggs if you ask me! -

I inquired after some Manchurians from JMF. They told me that Vail's quail has some of their jumbo lines so if you want jumbos, try there. This morning I got up to three tiny baby snowflakes flopping around in my incubator. So now I am dealing with 5 three week old Jumbo cots, 7 week and a half...
