Any guesses for breed? I inherited her from my daughter, she's a TS special, 22 weeks, very large floppy comb, weird white ear patches, eats like a horse... I'm just curious because I'm not sure which eggs are hers (if any)... the other 3 hens she came with are easily identifiable. TIA!!!
OMG!!! I love this! Believe it or not, I have a Australorp that does the same thing. That thing will raise a racket for hours over the other 5 or 6 laying...the neighbors down the road are quite aware of when laying begins and ends daily.
Sorry, but I have no idea how to quiet this behavior...
More than shoving calcium down her throat every day and fussing at her being a roost hog at night?!?
Just kidding...I do actually talk sweet to her and pet her. She just doesn't eat that up like the others.
I know this hen doesn't eat the crushed oyster shell. She is most likely cleaning up whatever mis-happen eggs she's laying becuz I haven't seen ANY blue egg shell at all. My other hens are so excited about treat time, there's nothing left of what I put out. I think this is Nature's way of...
She's pretty, and has gotten used to me shoving calcium tabs down her throat. She's not going anywhere, but I really am perplexed with her egg-laying and overall behavior. Thank you for your input.
Yes!!! I like to give them a variety. This hen just really isn't all that interested in much of anything. She's been that way from the start. The others are VERY SOCIAL and greet me at the door, telling me all the stories and such. She just acts BORED 🤷
My flock has been on Purina Layena from the start. All my other hens are AWESOME. They lay great eggs every day (4 or more from 7 hens). No problems ever. It's just this one...that I of course thought I HAD to have cuz of her egg color. She's not even friendly like my other hens. I'm quite put...
