Here are my two. As you can see one got more of the blue copper maran genes and the other looks more Welsummer with blue in the tail and only a tiny bit of leg feathering. Both have the typical golden neck lacing of the Welsummer.
The black and white crested and blue both turned out to be boys. They crowed a week or so later. So I think early wattles is a better indicator than crest size. :rolleyes: We still have our cuckoo girl but rehomed the other two
What should I do if the duckling doesn't pip externally after making a safety hole. Three of my buff ducklings internally pipped yesterday and I put safety holes in them as we've had so many losses at this stage. I just didn't want to risk losing more. The shells are so hard. Its only day 26.
It's moving alot. Just not sure whether to help yet or wait for pip. I keep thinking maybe they are both so squashed that they can't get into position to pip.

34 viable eggs on day 18 tomorrow. Plus three under a broody bantam. A mix of lavender aracuanas, olive eggers, welsummer, gold lace wyandottes and mixed bantams. Some shipped and some from our own hens. Never incubated so many at one time.
Our last two eggs are pipping. So should have 8 fluff balls by tomorrow and another three due in two days under broody. Will see if she's as good as the incubator :rolleyes:
