It looks like two have internally pipped- some of the other eggs have some shadowing around the air cells, but on one of them the air cell hasn't even dipped down yet and I'm not seeing any shadows. Not sure if that one's still viable. I guess we'll see!
Curious if anyone else has tried the assisted hatching (making a tiny hole in the shell over the air pocket after internal pipping) as referenced in that goose hatching thread-? From everyone else’s experience what has been the cause for failure to hatch in chicks? Curious since this is my...
There's a Hedemora group on FB which has a list of breeders and people who have hatching eggs. They're very helpful! I believe there are a few of them in NH and ME too! Good luck!
All done! In the end, only three eggs didn't hatch. Looks like one tried but got rolled over by the other chicks and didn't make it. Ended up with a 88% hatch rate!
Not sure if some of these Ameraucanas might be from under my Marans rooster- they look darker than just straight up Wheaten Ameraucana? Also- random Marans in there because they disregard my divider.
I am envious of your Bresse! I’ve been looking into them a lot lately- not sure I’d have the balls ( :lau ) to caponize, but I am so intrigued by them as a meat bird.
I’m still waiting on 6 eggs- some of which have pipped - but the rest have all hatched! My divider between the two breeds was...
One chick out of its shell this morning! Wobbling around and chirping happily- most of my remaining eggs have pipped, I’m excited to see what has happened by the time I get home this evening!
Do you have a way of turning the Pekins only without disturbing the calls in lockdown? Humidity...
When do the Pekins go into lockdown?
Ooh, what kind of rabbits? I just got into Rex this past fall and am having a total blast with all of the pretty coats!
Congratulations on the chickies! :jumpy
My goodness- I just went in the room where my incubator is and they're peeping! I checked and four of the eggs are pipping! Go, little chickie-doodles! :fl
No way! I’m excited for you-! My eggs aren’t due to start hatching until tomorrow night, so it’s exciting to live vicariously through your hatching! Show us pictures if you can!
