Got this chicken and I need help!

My neighbours brought this chicken to me after it had been injured by a rat, I'm keeping it safe and warm, but I'm not sure of the gender/breed. It's original parents have rejected it, so I can keep it. Its name is lucky! Any details will help.

    Can my chickens infect me?

As a bit of background I know that most animal's poop can be dangerous to come in contact with, which is why I always keep an eye out for when she is trying to poop, but she has never done so on me before. When I pat her, she is never upset and never tries to attack me. She usually makes little...

    Can my chickens infect me?

I have been growing chickens for a bit and my oldest chicken (Tender) is very friendly with me and often I pick her up and pet her for a while. She is 4 months old, almost 5 and she has curled feet but is never aggressive. I usually sit her on my lap and pet her, with my arms away from her chest...

    Curled Feet

Ah thank you, I was worried that she wouldn't be able to roost at all, I'll check out the flat roosts now

Here are some photos, they are both made here in our backyard so any advice is greatly appreciated. The chickens which lay the eggs are in the bigger coop with the flowers and a 3-4 month-old ones are in the one with the white roof. I think they all gathered up because it's feeding time 😅

    Curled Feet

The oldest chicken that we have, who also happens to be one of my favourites has had a problem with her feet for a while, she is the oldest of the chickens that we have hatched and is 4 months old. She's a Welsummer named Tender, and she has always been friendly with me and the other chickens. I...

    Random behaviour change

Ah thanks, the 2 younger ones are a few weeks old, and then there is Tortilla who is 2 months and they are all together in the garage, so not to stink out the house. The rest are around 4 months except for the ones who lay eggs who are around 2 years old. By warm cage, I mean that I was thinking...

Thank you, I will try that. Also with her pecks, they are definitely not friendly as she usually opens her beak a bit and closes it on my hand nipping it, and she drew a bit of blood today

Yeah the other chickens are older, I was thinking of putting her in a warm cage next to the run that we keep the rest in so that they can get used to each other, would that help?

    Random behaviour change

Currently, we have 10, but Tortilla is being kept in the garage as seeing as we tried to integrate her with the others, she got attacked and was hiding under a ramp that we keep in the coop. She had an injury on her back and a bit missing from the top of her beak so we brought her back inside...

    Random behaviour change

Here's a photo of Tortilla, she is around 2 months old, I just went to say hello to her and she tried to peck me again. I tried your advice using a pecking motion, but she jumped away before I could.

    Random behaviour change

Hello, I'm new to this whole chicken business and my father and I decided to keep chickens recently. I've grown attached to some of them, but seeing as we live in the city, we can't keep roosters. My current favourite is a white Araucana named "Tortilla". Seeing as she was the only hatchling of...
