Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Hello! My two broody black tailed white Japanese bantam hens just hatched (sharing a nest!) 13 healthy chicks today out of 13 eggs! This was both my first hatch and their first hatch so I'm thrilled that this turned out so great! It's sort of funny though to see both hens thinking they're the...

Two tiny moms... Double the trouble, double the fun! Unbelievable!

I have a small flock of 2 black tailed white Japanese bantam hens and one black tailed white Japanese bantam rooster in their own (huge!) coop. I allowed one hen to nest on her eggs for the first time 21 days ago. Sure enough, the other hen wanted in on the fun! They both went broody on the same...

The Pink Rooster brought joy to nursing home residents

It lasted a bit over a month, but I still find a pink feather in the coop every now and then, so it must not be completely gone! Those pesky pink feathers must be well hidden under his wings!

The Pink Rooster brought joy to nursing home residents

Just as a heads up, you may want to use two packets of sugar free kool-aid on your buff instead of one because of how much darker their feathers are. And hey, you won't need to marinate your chicken! She'll be watermelon flavored! Just tell your son not to eat her no matter how fruity she may...

The Pink Rooster brought joy to nursing home residents

Haha! You should! It's so funny seeing people's reactions to a dyed chicken! One resident thought that I created a new breed of chicken!

The Pink Rooster brought joy to nursing home residents

Unfortunately, the pics I had of the event were all on my old phone. I just emailed my grandparents to see if they could send me some pics of Titan! I found this image on google. It looks just like Titan, but imagine him...

13 hens... yet 29 eggs a day. Suspicious?

Well he was the one who gave the lock to lock to me a while back. He claimed that he had found the extra key a while ago, but I'm not sure I believe that :)

The Pink Rooster brought joy to nursing home residents

Yes, I am now in my first year of high school. And thanks! I really can't lie, though... I had just as much fun as the residents did!

The Pink Rooster brought joy to nursing home residents

Hello everyone! I would really like to share a great story with you. My grandmother is the activities director of a nursing home. She is always great at her job and brings so much joy to those older residents. As a child, she would always let me help out with the weekly nursing home parties that...

um... do submissive cockerels SQUAT for humans??

Hmm... I've never heard of this before, although I believe my Japanese Bantam too, Titan, is very submissive to both me and his four "scary" bantam hens ;) Titan doesn't squat, but he does go belly up in my arms when I hold him. He even falls asleep like that!
