Thank you! As I explained to my stubborn husband, lol, I would never let my chicken wonder through the house unattended, unless I put the cats in the bedroom for a little while. My cats and dogs have always nurtured and loved kittens we have rescued, which 2 of the 3 cats we have are those...

Prong Collar?! Tell Me About Them.

I think is depends on the dog. I actually saw a prong collar on a chihuahua. ..WTF? But many years ago I rescued a 7 month old boxer/ st. bernard mix who was huge and perfect, EXCEPT he pulled me through the pet store, so when he was at his full size I saw a prong collar and I put it around my...

So, some drama with the hubby 😕, he thinks our cats will kill the chicken, as if I am going to just let her walk around dripping in gravy .....SMH. Anyone have opinions and experiences on cats living in harmony you with a pet chicken? No matter how much research I have done to ensure their...

The ONE MILLIONTH question about sexing a silkie

Correct! I am not worried about the cost of a DNA analysis, just what's best for the bird. If a chick gets a DNA test by the breeder I will drive the 3 hours to pick up a hen or two and the risk of a surprise rooster is eliminated and therefore fi ding a safe place for him to go. I guess it...

The ONE MILLIONTH question about sexing a silkie

I was thinking of 2 girls so when I have to put them in a crate at night they can cuddle....that is if I can leave them alone for that long, lol. So if I ask the breeder to do the DNA test will they if I pay for it? It's just that all the breeders I have found so far are 2 or 3 hours away.

The ONE MILLIONTH question about sexing a silkie

Sorry everyone, but I HAVE to ask😊 I read that their are people who are so experienced that they can tell the sex of a silkie by looking at them. I am a newbie but have been doing my research in order to be prepared for my first chicken, a silkie, who will be our little princess, indoor chicken...

I'm looking for a pet silkie, a chicken to hold and love and be part of the family, while also having their outdoor time, under my supervision. My animals love baby animals, so a chick would be welcomed and treated gently by all the dogs and cats and kept safe.

Hi, I am new here and VERY new with chicken ownership. I have researched silkies and I am looking for a breeder in Union County or close by. So far the best place I have found online for silkies is almost 3 hours away and I do not want my chick shipped.
